Do Not Feed Birds presents a summer party with Pimms and cake!

9 July, Bradford Playhouse, Sewing Room Bar
    9:30pm onwards

    Featuring Yorkshire's finest summer bands:

    Quack Quack
"Quack Quack have created an uplifting, crowd-friendly sound that has listeners going nuts! Nuts over an instrumental band, wonders will never cease! Where other instrumental groups have tried and failed to capture the energy and enthusiasm of what is commonly known as post-rock, Quack Quack have nailed it on the head, so much so that it's very rarely mentioned that they are a either a post-rock or an instrumental group. If you want to hear exciting music played with enthusiasm, skill and conviction and you prefer dancing and fun to chin-stroking and headphone music, then this is the group for you. I couldn't recommend them highly enough...it's practically making me cry just thinking about how good this is. I'm not joking." (Norman Records review of new album Slow as an Eyeball, 2010)

    Cissy
"Their sound is angular and scratchy post-funk from somewhere round the corner from the James Chance school. It's polyrhythmic, unpredictable, joyful, and catchy, mixing elements of post-punk, new-wave, no-wave, and classic funk. Richard Formby has described the band's sound as 'Captain Beefheart doing Afro-Beat'."

Cissy were totally awesome at British Wildlife festival this year so really excited about them playing this gig.

There will be a £2 door tax and a 50p cake tax.

Bradford Playhouse is on Chapel Street in Little Germany and is just 5 minutes walk from Bradford Interchange. Trains go to Leeds regularly and the last train is at 12:37am. The gig will be timed so folk can catch the last train home.

Really sad that Executive Legs couldn't play this gig in the end (someone needs a diary!) - but... what a cracking replacement! Cissy rock.

Bumping this up in case anyone has forgotten about it.

    Great cake, great music!

And there will be wheat-free cake too. Possibly gluten free.

More about the gig - with proper band write ups rather than my earlier lazy quoting on Culture Vulture: http://theculturevulture.co.uk/blog/?p=6694
