Gowns are a band as haunting as they are haunted. Searching for salvation amongst the clutter of our everyday existence they tell us stories of never-ending summers, broken lives and shining revelation, all soaked in the dirty realism of a wilderness America. Revolving around the partnership of Erika Anderson - previously the guitar wrangler in Amps For Christ - and Ezra Buchla - ex-horror show vocalist and programmer for The Mae Shi - Gowns cast an apocalyptic net over a broad church of influences, hauling in their fractured folk songs with cracked electronics, lending their confessional lyrics the directness of a spooked grunge approach, whilst embracing their smart oscillating pop with troubled atmospherics. Their debut full-length ‘Red State’ is out now on UTR and Erika and Ezra will be joined by improv-drummer Jacob Felix Heule (also of Ettrick) and bassist Daniel Brummel (also of Ozma) for this tour.

7 Hertz take a traditional and typically classical instruments, violins, a French horn, and a bass clarinet (and a double bass) and weave together a stunning blend of Celtic/traditional folk, with more European styles and a more contemporary sound that is uniquely 7 Hertz. Their melodies recall the haunting sounds of Vashti Bunyan but their sound more is earthy, organic, and brooding with jazz and blues overtones. Starting with a simple bass-line, they build up their pieces to climax with a warm, full and rich sound that enchants and captivates before moving off on a tangent to hit upon something equally absorbing. 7 Hertz are one of Leeds finest groups so you should make an effort and go watch them.
