Sketches for Albinos (Iceland)
Camped out somewhere in deepest, iciest Iceland, Sketches for Albinos (a.k.a. Matthew Collings) makes music from the ends of the earth. Utterly unique, SfA has all the musical adventure of John Mcentire, Tortoise or Kevin Shields without sounding a bit like any of them.
Mr. Collings makes a sound that manages to be both truly heartfelt and organic, but also encompassing the majestic glacial soundscapes that would make the likes of Tim Hecker or Christian Fennesz proud. The Holy Trinity church will be the perfect venue to sample the delights he has to offer.
“Songs like pale deep-sea creatures, float through an embryonic soup. Muffled, they bend into bulbous shapes. We’re stunned” - Brighton Source

Escalade (Japan)
Escalade (aka Greg Sullivan) is a project based in Tokyo, Japan. Originally from New York, USA, Sullivan embarked on a self-imposed exile to New Zealand, and has currently been gaining momentum within the live scene of Japan’s capital.
Greg makes skewed alt. rock/pop in the vein of Thurston Moore/Hood/Television… and stands way way way apart from his peers. Why? This is music with room-to-breath, with an natural understanding of the perfect lazy melody, calm insistence, and plenty of space to think. Lovely.
“This is a slow motion version of shoegazing built around tangled ballads and meandering melodies. With a mixture of instruments the hazy twangs are cleverly spun with samples, in what is a pleasing and head shrinking exercise in originality.” - www.manchestermusic.co.uk
worriedaboutsatan
Firm Forest of Sound favourites these guys. Why? Guitars that clear out your brain with a true understanding of how 6 strings can make the hair on the back of your neck stand up… all underpinned with the kind of minimal techno Richie Hawtin would sell his new haircut for. Computer music is boring live? No f**king way!
“… a mash-up of glitchtronica and crescendo… hitting all the right intellectual and emotional buttons” - Sandman
