Iron Valley’s bedazzled bunch spring forth with a stunner of a record that drones, moans, chortles and squeaks in completely unexpected ways. Beefheart-soaked and strangulated guitar tactics, double mutter drumming, and bass all collide in uncharted territory with hysterical vocal yelps to make this record advance to the head of the class in your record pile. Think of this band in the unlikely company of the real R n’ R Hall of Famers like HALF JAPANESE, THINKING FELLERS LOCAL 182, and similar jokers. Features folks who have been in bands like DEERHOOF and ANGST HASE PFEFFER NASE have toured with usual calibre of Load artists such as pink & brown, lightning bolt, sightings etc.

Chris Corsano is a drummer from New England, USA. He often performs in an improvisation duo with saxophonist Paul Flaherty. He has also recorded material with artists such as Dredd Foole, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Six Organs of Admittance, Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, Matt Valentine, Nels Cline, Vibracathedral Orchestra, Damo Suzuki, Jim O’Rourke, Mick Flower, and C. Spencer Yeh as well releasing several solo recordings.More recently, he has been touring with Björk, having featured on her most recent studio album Volta. He now lives in the UK.
Mick Flower is the founding member of UK-based drone ensemble the Vibracathedral Orchestra. The original group came together when Mick Flower began recording with Neil Campbell and Julian Bradley, who had released a number of homemade cassettes and an LP of their duo work. They self-released 2 CDR albums before Campbell suggested merging the nascent group with the trio Flower was working with alongside Bridget Hayden and Adam Davenport. This sealed the best known 5 piece VCO line-up. The group quickly became known for their prolific output on a vast array of independent labels and their incendiary live performances. They attracted the attention of Julian Cope, whose essay on the group can still be read at his Head Heritage website. Vibracathedral Orchestra has many self-released albums but has made music available through many key underground labels, including VHF Records, Giardia, Eclipse, U-Sound, Qbico, Textile and Freedom From. They have twice been featured in session on Resonance FM, given an hour long slot each time.
There should be some new international benchmark of musicianship set-up for those playing opposite free drummer Chris Corsano; if a player can’t cut it, it’s time to hang it up. This might cut down on the stock available in your local independent store, but maybe it’s time to address the fact that the bar’s been raised. Without a duff record to his name yet, Corsano embodies the freedom of noise, the self-determination of free jazz, and the energy of hardcore. (Wire)

Elapso-

Chronic death disco, Sound like a battle to be signed to skingraft records between Swans, Liars and merzbow. Lovely chaps hailing from Oxford, currently bringing top UK noise/improv artists to Tolkien’s old stomping ground under the name Permanent Vacation.
