Ben Jacobs must be one of the few people that can say they were refused a record deal for having “too many ideas”. He isn’t your average electronic musician, taking more of his influences from 70s rock than naughties IDM, mastering any instrument he fancies in the process, and all without a laptop in sight. Ben’s signature tracks dart and weave in unexpected directions, but when this rollercoaster-ride approach is tamed, he turns the organized chaos into flawless, punchy pop songs (see ‘Lysine’). He has remixed everyone from Kid606 to Franz Ferdinand to the Pet Shop Boys to Lily Allen, and his remix of Freddie Mercury has been a Funder Strikes favourite for as long as we can remember.
