Saturday 21st October.
The CommonPlace. 23-25 Wharf st. £4. 8:30 doors.
THE UNIT AMA are one of the finest bands i’ve heard. If you’ve not seen them
before then it’s because you’ve gone wrong. Hailing from sunny Newcastle
these fine fellas conjure up a right tune. Super tight and dynamic whilst
leaving enough room for monuvere, the unit ama fill the room noise, chuck
some crazy shapes, harness some proper groove and then tickle yer
chin-folicules with some improv tappage. L.P available on Gringo records.
LAFARO anna likes surf! jonny likes crunk! alan likes surf! Together they
are lafaro (surf-crunk-surf). On first listen The Unit Ama’s tour companions
Lafaro sound very Helmet-like. That’ll be the big amps. Then they sound all
dynamic and funky, much like the unit ama…but much more rock…real
rock…with rock singing and everything! Excellent Irish rockout, i’m sure
it will be. http://www.myspace.com/lafaro
PFAFF are one (crazy) manboy and one (less crazy) lady from Amsterdam. The
manboy is Bas and he’s been touting the Pfaff name for some time. Once
accompanied by two drummers, Bas now has to make do with some crazy loop
machine, his drumkit and his multi-talented sidekick lady freind Alice. They
make daft, offensive and very lovable pop music and i like them loads. I’ve
even out stayed my welcome in Bas’s house…..a couple of times. Good stuff.
Top party fun. pfaff.musicweb.nl
PIFCO again, if you ain’t seen ‘em then you are not even here. All hail
Leeds premiere two piece boy/girl party band. They’ve got lab-coats, nerd
specs and good skills! Good skills! Pifco will begin the evening with some
proper indie rock if you don’t mind. New tape of old tunes out on
Chinchilla-tone, eventually soon.
