Armley presents: art, music, cake and films

Town Street in Armley is now host to three pawn shops, two cheque cashers, one will-writing drop-in centre and (thankfully) the I Love West Leeds shop. The ILWL festival have taken over the old Co-Op chemist and travel agent on Armley’s much-maligned main shopping street and re-opened it for more creative pursuits on 13th November.

The shop has already hosted life drawing and a photo exibition (Looking Good, Armley) and is currently serving as a gallery for Marina de Stacpoole‘s exhibition. On Thursday 25th November and Tuesday 30th November a DIY Christmas gifts workshop will be held in association with Buns & Roses WI and Unity Garden (between 3pm and 5pm both days). Drop in on a Tuesday lunchtime and add your stories of Armley to a future mp3 tour guide of the area.

On Saturday 18th December there’s going to be a Christmas cake exhibition and cake knitting group, and there are also make, do and mend workshops on and off throughout the month (see the site for dates and times).

Finally (for now), on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th January there’s a (Shop Til You) Drag and Drop with Beards, Executive Legs, a vegan/veggie breakfast and films from Minicine.

For more info visit the I Love West Leeds Festival website or follow the hashtag #ilwlshop on Twitter.
