Light Night Leeds 2010

Light Night is an arts and culture event on Friday 8th October showcasing theatre, music, installations and visual art all over the city.

Buy vending machine kitsch, climb the Town Hall clock tower, tag Millenium Square with infra-red graffiti, tour an underground city centre prison or take a ghost train round Oxford Chambers.

Knitting group ‘Knit a Bear Face’ will be dressing up statues in winter woolies, and mobile markets and photo booths will be travelling between venues.

Local artist Louise Atkinson will be compiling a People’s Map of Leeds, and the legend of black circus proprietor Pablo Fanque is a running theme through several events including a guided tour around St George’s Fields.

There’s a geo dome and mini cinema being set up in the grounds of the Brudenell Social Club, or you can wander around Templeworks with your FM radio to pick up submitted audio performance. The night ends with Raisetheroof at the West Indian Centre.

Many events are free but some need to be booked in advance. For more info on all events and a brochure see www.lightnightleeds.co.uk or @lightnightleeds (hashtag #lightnightleeds) on Twitter.
