Raisetheroof Fifth Birthday Festival 2010

Friday 8th October 9pm – 5am

@ Leeds West Indian Centre
10 Laycock Place
Chapeltown
Leeds
LS7 3AJ

DREADZONE FULL LIVE BAND are not the only stellar attraction set to appear at Raisetheroof 2010, a not-for-profit community event part-funded by Bradford’s Unltd, the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs.

The Sunshine Underground DJs will also be making an appearance alongside Leeds’ Middleman, Exodus and China Shop Bull and DJs from the local Wombeatz and Moonstomp collectives.

With national and locally known acts, Raisetheroof in 2010 will make a change from their usual formula in celebration of their fifth birthday. Raisetheroof has also been granted a Social Entrepreneurs in Higher Education Award from the Bradford based company UnLimited, which will help to cover some of the costs of a third outdoor area of the event.

Amongst other attractions, the third area dubbed The Playground will showcase an aerial circus show, The Heavenly Court of Madame Fantasiste, and Sue Me, a Sumo wrestling game casting a satirical eye over the western legal system.

But the theme of the festival is An All-Seasons Celebration: “We had this idea of a cosmic convergence of all four seasons, so we’re going to try and theme an area on each season” commented co-organiser Nadine Cuddy, “so Raisetheroof will be decked out as a seasonal wonderland, and our fancy dress theme is ‘myths and legends’, so you can expect a truly surreal experience”.

Tickets on sale now at Jumbo and Crash Records, Leeds. Buy online at www.crashrecords.co.uk.
